FOLLOWING the news last week that Post Office bosses are considering re-opening an outreach service at Glenluce, the company this week announced a similar fate for Kirkcolm.
A public consultation has been launched on its proposal to re-open Kirkcolm Post Office a Hosted Outreach service.
The branch temporarily closed in November 2011 due to the resignation of the subpostmaster and the withdrawal of premises for Post Office use.
The service will be provided by the subpostmaster from New Luce Post Office, on Tuesdays from 2pm to 5pm and Thursdays from 9am to 12pm. The premises have a wide door and space for a wheelchair and there is roadside parking.
Post Office spokesperson Brian Turnbull said: “Our priority is to safeguard Post Office services in the longer term and the establishment of this Hosted service presents the best possible solution and will allow us to restore access to Post Office services in the Kirkcolm area.”
