Port William Community Development Trust had a daunting task this year when told the multi sport area in the village needed rejuvenation.
But it has now raised the £10,000 required.
Trust spokesperson Pauline Watkins said: “The adjacent field needed drainage improving and we needed to find a total of around £10,000.
“We asked the council for help and we are very pleased to say the Wigtown Area Committee gave us £4000. ‘Awards for All’ has awarded us £5491 and we raised £700 at a prize bingo. We can’t believe how lucky we have been.
“The youth group has given £140 from The Spring Fling and since then we have raised £300 selling teas, coffees and cakes at World Oceans Day and the Community Shop has given us £300 making a total of £600 which will help buy equipment for our recently developed Cycle Trail Project organised by Ted Norfolk and Morven Old.”
