Police on hunt for Co-op thieves

Two men are being sought by police following thefts from the Co-op stores in Newton Stewart and Wigtown this week.

On Wednesday afternoon, the pair were seen acting suspiciously in the Newton Stewart store at around 3.10pm. It was later discovered that seven bottles of spirits worth £123 had been stolen.

In the second theft, two boxes of chewing gum were stolen from the Co-operative Store in North Main Street in Wigtown. Again two men were seen acting suspiciously at around 1540 hours.

The men are described as (1) about 5’10” tall, slim build, stubble on face, wearing a baseball cap, a blue jacket, blue jeans and black trainers. (2) about 6’ tall, stocky build, black spiky hair, wearing white trainers, tight blue jeans and a grey hooded top with Lonsdale on the front.

The men spoke with an Eastern European accent.
