Police look into tragic tractor death case

A 37-year old Leswalt man died on Saturday after his tractor was involved in a tragic accident at High Drummore Farm in the Rhins.

Police say mechanic Alistair Irving died during the course of his employment on the farm.

Police, the Health and Safety Executive and the fire service have launched an investigation.

APolice Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Stranraer are investigating the death of a 37-year-old man who was found near Drummore. His family are aware.”

It is believed Mr Irving’s tractor fell into a ravine of around 30ft in depth.

A joint effort was carried out to recover the tractor from the area, which required specialist equipment due to the tricky nature of the location.

Police say they have no reason to suspect foul play, and that the accident was a “tragic incident”.
