Police look for three men after assault

Police in Newton Stewart are investigating an assault on a 37 year-old man from Whithorn which took place on the A746 road near to the service road which leads to Hazelbank, Sorbie.

The assault happened at around 11am on Monday 22 February. The victim was assaulted by three men who drove off in a blue coloured Fiat Panda car after the incident.

The victim was standing by his own car when he was assaulted and knocked to the ground.

The first man who carried out the assault is described as 6’2” tall, late20s/early 30s, scrawny build wearing grey jogging bottoms and hooded top and spoke with a Manchester accent. The second man is described as about 5’11” tall, wearing a dark top and blue jeans and a dark beanie type hat. This man had bad eczema on both hands and spoke with a Scottish accent.

There was no description for the third man.

Constable Josh Maxwell of Police Scotland said: “We want to hear from anyone who may have been on the A746 road near to Sorbie on Monday morning to get in touch if they say anything suspicious, or can help identify those in the blue coloured Fiat Punto car.

“Calls can be made to police at Newton Stewart on the 101 number.”
