Police are looking for witnesses after an alleged stabbing incident in the village of Port William last night.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “A local 33 year-old man was assaulted by a male on Main Street, Port William at around 23.40hrs on Sunday, August 4.

“The male is described as being middle aged, with short brown or dark blonde hair that was spiky on the top and was wearing dark clothing

“The victim sustained a cut in the assault. He was taken to Galloway Community Hospital and thereafter to DGRI to receive treatment on the injuries sustained.

“If you were in the area around the time of the incident or seen the assault contact police on 101 or anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
