Police appeal after man dies in A77 accident

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road crash on the A77 between Cairnryan and Ballantrae on Wednesday 10 August 2016.

At around 2pm hours officers were called to a report of a serious road crash involving a car and a lorry.

Emergency services attended and the 55 year-old male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say relatives have been informed.

Sergeant Iain Pittams from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Irvine said: “Enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances of this incident.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Irvine via 101.”

The A77 was closed on Wednesday at Girvan to Southbound traffic and at Cairnryan for Northbound traffic with diversions in place via Newton Stewart and Barrhill.
