Play park group in fundraising effort

A FUNDRAISING group to improve facilities at a Newton Stewart playpark has been gathering momentum.

The St Couans Place Playpark Association, spearheaded by resident Mandy Marshall, hope to raise enough cash to upgrade the play area and surrounding land for the whole town to use and efforts are well underway.

A quiz sheet is doing the rouds, available from committee members; a party night for 13-17year olds will take place in the Central Bar, Newton Stewart on 1 June and a Fun Day in the park will happen on 30 June.Mandy said: “Newton Stewrt is in need of better-equipped play park than what is currently available. Our aim is to make St Couans Place Playpark accessible to all. We welcome the support shoe to us by the people of Newton Stewart so far and urge the rest of the town to gte behind our activities.”

The group are seeking funding from local residents and businesses to provide donations for the Fun Day in the form of raffle prizes or donations to stalls.

The group also have a Facebook page called Stcouans Playpark.
