A COMMITTEE is being set up to improve the facilities at a playpark in Newton Stewart.

MP Russell Brown and Mid Galloway Labour candidate in the upcoming local elections, Heather Meldrum, joined resident Mandy Marshall on Tuesday to discuss progress at the St Couan’s Road park, which had suffered at the hands of time for years.

Last summer, Mandy and nearby residents took it upon themselves to clean up the area around the park, including along the A75, and by collecting litter and having a fence erected to shield the park form the adjacent A75.

If anyone wants to join the committee or can help in fundraising, contact Mandy on 01671 403384.
