Preparations for the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Lockerbie air disaster are underway and a group, comprising of local clergy, community representatives and Dumfries and Galloway Council officers, has been set up to co-ordinate events.

A commemorative wreath-laying will take place at 2pm on Saturday, December 21 at the Dryfesdale Cemetery with a short service and readings by the Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries and a US Government Official. An evening service will also take place in Dryfesdale Church at 6.30pm led by Syracuse Scholars and the theme will be ‘Looking Forward’. All are welcome to attend.

Lockerbie Academy will be open from 11.30am to 5pm, and refreshments will be available from 12 noon. Those wishing to attend are asked to gather at the Academy before the wreath-laying as transport has been arranged from the Academy as parking is limited at the cemetery, and this transport will start to leave around 1pm.
