Pancake day was flippin’ great

LAST Saturday saw the first annual Great Wigtown Pancake Challenge, organised by Wigtown Festival Company, in the town’s square.

Fourteen teams made up of friends, families, local businesses and organisations, dressed in aprons and clutching their pans, turned out to compete in the relay-style knockout race.

Each elimination round was followed by a children’s race with differing levels of challenge depending on age.

At the end of four close rounds, the final took place between Meals on Wheels and The Shop. With the challenge of six flips per leg of the race, victory went to Meals on Wheels. Kirsty Cannon was presented with a prize for best decorated apron.

The organisers look forward to welcoming new and returning teams in 2013. Thanks to everyone who took part or came along to support.
