Norovirus closes two DGRI wards as 22 suffer bug

Wards 12 and 18 at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary are currently closed due to confirmed Norovirus infection – the second such incident in a month.

A total of 19 patients and three members of staff have been affected since last Friday.

A DGRI spokesperson said that reports from the community indicate that this viral infection is circulating throughout Dumfries and Galloway at this time.

She added: “The Infection Control Team is monitoring the situation, and visitor restrictions are in place on affected wards. Members of the public who have symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea are asked not to visit the hospital until 48 hours after symptoms have resolved.”
