M/s Craig Wilson Ltd sold 150 store cattle at Newton Stewart’s July sale. All types maintained recent rates. Topping the sale per head was £1120 for a 13 month old Limousin Steer off Mrs J McMillan, Glenchamber and peaking pence per kilo was 258.8p for a pen of six Limousin Bullocks from PB Adams & Co, Clugston. Heifers topped at £1050 for a British Blue from HF Vance & Co, Low Barledziew and pence per kilo was 231p for a pen of four Limousin off PB Adams & Co, CLugston.

68 Beef Bred Bullocks Averaged 216.1p/kg or £863.21

25 Black & White Bullocks Averaged 151.8p/kg or £691.41

57 Heifers Averaged 201.7p/kg

Craig Wilson Ltd, Livestock Auction Mart, Newton Stewart had forward 1075 sheep compromising 934 prime lambs, 141 cast ewes & tups. Prime lambs sold to a top price of 243.9p/kg for a pen of 41kg Beltex lambs from J L McMillan, Carse O’ Clary, Newton Stewart with the overall average being 199.5p/kg (+5.3 p on the week). Well fleshed lambs were keenly bid for whilst leaner and out of spec types would be easier on the week.
