Improvements are in-store for The Co-operative food store in Newton Stewart which re-opened today following a near £400,000 investment to create a new shopping experience for the community.

The new-look store has been redefined with enhanced ranges and a focus on meal ideas, healthy, fresh and chilled foods and, essentials.

The store is also pioneering a new role, known as a Community Pioneer, where a member of the food store team also works to foster involvement in community activities.

Duncan Maurer, Operations Manager for The Co-operative Food in the area, said: “We are delighted to have made such a significant investment in Newton Stewart, and we are very excited that we will have a fantastic new-format food store to serve the community.

“The Co-operative is a community retailer, and we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit. The store will be a hub for the local community, and customers will be able to find out what is going on locally, and learn about how The Co-operative can benefit local groups - I am confident the store will provide the community with everything needed to pick-up delicious food conveniently and, create inspirational and tasty meals at home.”

There are offers and promotions in and around the store to mark its re-opening.
