This year’s Queen of Galloway has been chosen as Britney Hill-Sherwin, 15, from Creetown. Britney, a Kirkcudbright Academy pupil, was selected by judges Geoff and Marjorie Carlyle from Wigan who were honeymooning in town this week.

Chief maid will be Charlotte More, with attendants Kirsty Lyons, Megan McClure and Sian Ford. The younger attendants chosen are Ellie McEwan, Kayanna Todd, Cerys McKie and Naomi Allwill. Page boys are Dylan Cuthbertson and Charlie McNab. The annual pageant will begin with the sashing of the new Queen of Galloway at a fun day on Sunday, 19 July at the Creebridge House Hotel followed by three days of events from Thursday, 23 July culminating in Pageant Day when the new Queen of Galloway will be crowned on Saturday 25 July.
