PASSENGERS in Newton Stewart waiting for the Stranraer to Dumfries bus service were left scratching their heads this week when the bus pulled up across the road from their stop.
The driver of the bus was forced to get out on Monday and tell them the stop had moved and he would now be collecting passengers from the Queen Street side of Dashwood Square instead of outside the Tourist Information Centre.
One passenger said: “We’d had no warning of this and were all a bit confused by it. They keep changing the stop and spent all this cash building new bus shelters. There was a crowd of us standing there and not one of us knew anything about it.”
A council spokesperson said: “New printed departure information was put up at the stops in Dashwood Square prior to the change on 1 April. The electronic screens in the stops would have indicated the stop from which the westbound 500/X75 service would depart.”
