The Marie Curie Cancer Care Machars Fundraising Group is holding its second Newton Stewart Moonlight Meander.
And locals people are invited to take part in this fundraising event.
The Moonlight Meander will take place on Friday, June 1, and will start from the Crown Hotel at 10pm. The walk will last around three miles and participants can do it at their own pace.
The start time represents when local Marie Curie nurses arrive at patients’ homes for a nine-hour overnight shift to provide free high quality nursing care and emotional support to a terminally ill people and their families.
Derek McIlwraith, a local Marie Curie nurse, said: “Fundraising events such as this are vital in our local community to support myself and my colleagues to help support more patients to be in their own homes at the end of their life, surrounded by their loved ones.
“Marie Curie nurses provide our free nursing service to all patients with any terminal illness.”
Shirley McCleary, a local fundraiser, added: “This is our second year of holding this event after a successful first walk and we hope more local people sign up to take part and collect sponsorship to support our local Marie Curie nursing service.”
