It is being suggested to members of Dumfries and Galloway’s planning applications committee that they refuse the erection of a wind turbine on land at Corhulloch Hill, Mochrum.
The application will go before the committee next Wednesday but officers have recommended the request be refused on the grounds that it would have significant adverse environmental impacts on the surrounding area.
RES UK and Ireland Limited made the application for a turbine which would stand at 76m high as well as transformer kiosk, access track and turning area.
Seventy six objections were received by th council, along with seven more after the deadline date, which all pointed out the dominance of the turbine on the landscape, fears over the nearby historical sites and a fear it would set a precedence for similar ventures in the local area.
Councillors will make a final decision in Dumfries next week.
