Former Whithorn community council chairman Jim McCulloch resigned at Monday night’s meeting from the sub-committee set up to look into improving facilities for children at the top and bottom parks over “trust” issues.
Mr McCulloch gave the full community council a report on taking the improvements forward by putting in an application for funding, but community council chairman John Wilson pointed out that the sub-group’s remit was only “to investigate funding and report back to the full committee”.
An exasperated Mr McCulloch raged that this would mean a delay in getting a funding application into the common good fund for the improvements.
He said: “We can’t get anything done with the playpark if we have to keep reporting back. It’s as if you don’t trust us so I am coming off the community improvements.”
His resignation was accepted by the chairman.
