PRIZE- winning author Kriss Nichol will be launching her debut novel at Newton Stewart library on Saturday March 16th.
Kriss, a retired teacher, moved to Wigtownshire from Northumberland 10 years ago after finding the area “inspirational” to her writing. She has an MA in Creative Writing from the Northumbria University and has had a number of poems and stories published in the last few years. Kriss is a member of the local Curlywee and BookTown Writers’ groups and the driving force behind the Wigtown Women’s Walk project.
Her first novel, In Desolate Corners, Shadows Crouch, is set in the wild places of her native county and Cumbria. It follows a family pulled apart by grief and reunited by the need to save a child.
Kriss will take a break from her current project, writing 21 poems to accompany a photographic exhibition in Malta, to launch the novel at the event in Newton Stewart. Between 2.30pm and 4.30pm she will be reading from the book and also talking about the difficulties involved in the publication.
The novel is now available from Amazon but can be purchased at the launch when Kriss will also be giving away a copy of her poetry pamphlet “The Language of Crows” with every purchase The event is free and everyone is welcome.
