KIRKCOWAN charity fundraisers took £1040 for Macmillan Cancer Support with their coffee morning this year.

Organiser Wendy Wood wished to thank people in Kirkcowan and the Autumn Club for helping to make the event the best ever. After eight years Mrs Wood has decided to retire from her role as organiser and hopes that someone in the village will continue the event next year.

Una Wilson, project manager for the Newton Stewart Cancer Drop in Centre praised Mrs Wood and her team of helpers for having raised £5648 in total over the past eight years. The Drop in Centre is held on Thursdays from 10am to 3pm in the Lighter Life office in Newton Stewart, next to the Clydesdale Bank. A further fundraising coffee morning is being held at the Scent of Galloway on November 16th.
