A Newton Stewart man who urinated on the street before making an obscene remark to a witness was fined £270 this week.
Marc Cuthbertson, 22, of Princes Terrace, admitted in Stranraer Sheriff Court this week placing a woman a state of fear and alarm and committing a breach of the peace on June 9 on Victoria Street in Newton Stewart.
The court heard how Cuthbertson had been on a night out and was walking away from Queen Street at the time. Two women passing by saw him urinate on the road and told him to stop. At this point he turned to one and made a rude remark about the situation. Lawyer Michael Kilkerr said Cuthbertson, a first offender, was generally a “pro-social character” who had been drinking at the time.
In sentencing, Sheriff Kenneth Robb told Cuthbertson: “This behaviour is just not acceptable. For someone to remonstrate and for you respond as you did is just disgusting.”
