Five small, independently-owned and run, award-winning hotels in Dumfries and Galloway have got together to launch Luxury Galloway.
The initiative offers the finest dining – with delicious locally sourced food in luxurious surroundings – in the area.
The chefs involved between them have an enviable rack of accolades from a Michelin star and AA rosettes to recognition in the most influential and respected guide books. All share a passion for creativity, great local produce and gastronomy.
The hoteliers between them have a wealth of hospitality experience and have transformed their own establishments into havens of comfort, tranquillity and individuality. The hotels are: Balcary Bay House Hotel, Blackaddie Country House Hotel, Cavens Country House Hotel, Kirroughtree and Knockinaam Lodge.
Angus Fordyce, proprietor and chef at Cavens and chairman of Luxury Galloway, announced the launch. He said: “We felt that for Dumfries and Galloway to get the recognition it deserves for the quality of the food and the charm of our hotels, we needed to work together. The members of Luxury Galloway employ up to 70 people, with a capital value of £7 million in property, added to which our businesses attracts thousands of visitors.
“We are keen to invite local people to try our establishments as places to eat and share our passion for the great food that is produced in the region. In the wider context, our plan is also to attract more visitors to stay in and discover the region – and as a first step we have launched the website www.luxurygalloway.com.”
The website aims to showcase this special selection of distinctive hotels, for local people to visit and enjoy delicious, locally sourced food in lovely surroundings with great service. It also hopes to raise the profile of the region as a place to enjoy the finer things in life away from the hustle and bustle of busy cities or crowded tourist destinations.
