Young choristers in concert

Members of Dumfries and Galloway Regional Youth Choir are preparing to participate in a residential singing course later this week near Durham.

They will join forces with the school choir of the Humboldt Gymnasium, from Gifhorn, Germany.

This is the third in a series of twinning events run between the two groups over the past three years.

Students from the regional youth choir, which represents most of the region’s 16 secondary schools, are looking forward to welcoming our German guests to prepare a varied programme of choral music, as well as enjoying leisure activities, including a visit to Beamish Open Air Museum.

The tour will culminate when both groups travel to Dumfries and present a joint concert at St John’s Church, Lovers’ Walk, this Saturday, September 15, at 7pm to showcase the musical achievements of the group.

The concert is free and everyone is very welcome.

The regional youth choir is hoping to organise a return visit to Gifhorn in December 2013.
