Works starts on health centres
Dalbeattie and Dunscore are celebrating with news that preliminary work is set to start on two modern health centres.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway has confirmed that enabling work is getting underway in the next week.
David Hardie Engineering Ltd will start on both sites to form site access, install drainage infrastructure and, at Dunscore, carry out sight line improvements for road safety.
The premises in Dalbeattie will be built on the town’s bypass, Port Road. While in Dunscore the site is located on the right of the B729 at the 30mph limit entering the village from Dumfries, opposite the school.
Donald Millar, project manager for NHS Dumfries and Galloway, said: “The new surgeries will significantly improve upon the facilities that the local GPs are currently working in and, most importantly, boost the offering to the local patients.”
Campbell Watt, practice manager for Dalbeattie Clinic, said: “We are delighted that the development has started onsite. The new surgery will be an asset to the local community.”
Capital funding secured by NHS Dumfries and Galloway for the enabling works is in the region of £230,000.
