Woman removed after car flips over

AN elderly woman was recovered from her car after it flipped over on Dalrymple Street, Stranraer last week.

At about 11.15am on Sunday, three fire vehicles were sent to the scene from Stranraer and Newton Stewart and officers were confronted by one private car which had landed on its roof on the pavement.

A Fire Service spokesman said: “Fire and Rescue Service crews stabilised the vehicle to prevent further movement and used hydraulic cutting tools to create safe access to the vehicle.

“Ambulance colleagues then assessed the casualty’s injuries while Police officers continued to control traffic movement to maintain safety.

“Fire Service personnel then accessed the casualty who was trapped in her seat in the overturned vehicle and carefully removed her on a rescue board where she was passed to ambulance personnel who transferred her to Stranraer hospital.”
