Woman is jailed
A woman with alcohol issues who broke her bail condition was jailed for two months at the court in Stranraer this week.
Forty-eight-year-old June Govan or Westran, 10 Fineview Crescent, Glenluce, was bailed from Stranraer Court on June 26 last year on the understanding that she did not contact two other named women. But she admitted being at a party at an address in Dickshill Park, Stranraer, on July 24 when both women were there.
Defence agent Jocelyn Aitken said the accused has long-standing alcohol problems and had arrived at the address “heavily intoxicated” and there had subsequently been discord.
When police arrived the accused “did not comprehend” that she should not be there. Mrs Aitken added she was now keen to get to grips with her problems. Sheriff Robb said the accused must have had a “Damascene moment” if she was willing to give up alcohol, adding that a custodial sentence would help her cause.
