After a rather slow start for booking of this year’s Newton Stewart Walking Festival, organisers are now warning locals not to delay in confirming their place as interest picks up.
Bookings are now flowing in steadily from across the country and some walks are already almost fully booked. Coastal walks and new routes are particularly popular. The Rhins coastal walk to the Mull of Galloway, repeated from last year’s festival, is almost fully subscribed.
Chair Joan Mitchell said: “ It’s encouraging to see bookings from places as far apart as Dorset, Wales and Angus, and including for the first time French friends from our twin town of Marcoussis.
However while it’s great to welcome old friends and new participants from outside the region, we don’t want local people to be disappointed if their first choice of walks is unavailable.”
