Rebecca Bryson from Castle Douglas has raised £400 for Yorkhill Children’s Charity by summiting three local peaks in one day.
Rebecca, who works at Wilko in the town, laced up her hiking boots and set off to climb Criffel, Lotus and Screel hills, ascending over 1,000m in total for her shop’s chosen charity.
Fellow team members, customers and friends gave her lots of support, encouragement and donations, but it was up to Rebecca alone to climb every hill in the 24 hour challenge.
Claire Brewster, store manager at the Castle Douglas Wilko, said: “We’re all incredibly proud of Rebecca for all the hard work she put into climbing all three hills in such an impressive time. She was absolutely shattered afterwards, but it was all worth it as she raised a great total.”
Kirsten Sinclair, Head of Fundraising at Yorkhill Children’s Charity, said: “Our charity relies entirely on donations, so it’s fantastic to see Rebecca setting herself a personal challenge to raise money for us.
“Every penny raised will go a long way in helping our charity care for sick children and babies, and their families, at Yorkhill Hospital.”
