The height of romance declared at festival

LOVE was quite literally in the air at the weekend when two couples cemented their relationships in a novel fashion.

The skies above Dundrennan’s Wickerman Festival were the venue for a surprise proposal from Gourock reveller Jim Hagen, whose girlfriend Alaine Fleming was the intended recipient of a message in the clouds.

As the afternoon sun shone bright above the heads of the 15,000 attendees, an aeroplane carrying a banner reading ‘Pretty lady - will you marry me?’ circled overhead. Only those nearby the happy couple picked up on for whom the message was intended and groom-to-be Jim said Alaine’s face was “priceless, a pure peach”.

On Saturday, a secret wedding as part of TV programme ‘Don’t Tell The Bride’ was filmed on-site. Glasgow man Mark Loney arranged the wedding for bride Jill McClintock without her knowledge, after she handed over all control to him as required by the show.

The couple partied into the night after an initial hesitation by the bride, and enjoyed a shot on the fairground rides.
