Sudden death in Newton Stewart

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after the sudden death of 51-year-old Derek McCalman in Newton Stewart last Friday night.

A police spokesman said: “The 51-year-old male has unfortunately passed away, enquiries at this stage show that the male had fallen over and the injuries sustained from this fall may have been the cause of his death. The next of kin have been informed.

“To assist with our enquiries if you were in the area of Albert Street, Dashwood Square and Queen Street, Newton Stewart, between the hours of 2230 hours and midnight on Friday 26 October 2012 please call us on 08456005701.
