Stranraer man jailed

A Stranraer man was jailed for four months after obstructing emergency services staff by throwing himself to the ground outside the Ritz pub in Stranraer in June.

Procurator fiscal William McKay told the court that David Jamieson, 51, of Dalrymple Street, had been abusive when ambulance staff arrived at the location. After he threw himself to the ground when they tried to assist him he was arrested and taken to the police station where the verbal abuse continued.

Jamieson also intentionally urinated himself when being searched by officers, kicked a sergeant in the leg and assaulted another officer.

Sentencing, Sheriff Kenneth Robb said this was another example of people coming to the aid of other people and getting “this sort of treatment”.
