Speechmakers are talk of the town

editorial image

Machars YFC Junior Speechmaking team travelled to Edinburgh on December 15 to compete in the national championships – and won!

The victorious team was chairman Katie Landers, speaker Caera Morton and vote of thanks Eilidh Parker.

The trio were successful in a tightly-fought competition against nine other teams from throughout Scotland. This same team won at D&G level in early November and went onto claim second place at West area with best speaker and best vote of thanks outwith the winning team.

Machars had entered another Junior team at D&G which comprised chairman Morag MacDonald, speaker Katie Marr and vote of thanks Alistair Birse. This team finished in third place with Morag winning best chairman outwith the winning team as well, and they then went onto West area but were unfortunately unplaced on the day.

A huge well done has to go to both teams and many thanks to all those who supported and gave guidance throughout.
