Rob bids farewell

A FAVOURITE face on the Newton Stewart to Kirkcudbright bus route said his goodbyes last week as he drove the final route before retiring.

Rob Ross, from Creetown, has driven the school buses for 27 years but pulled on the handbrake for good on Friday.

And Rob was given a surprise by his passengers before he left.

Shannon Wood, from Newton Stewart, organised the presentation to Rob of a bottle of whisky, a trophy, a hip-flask and a framed photo of him with all the kids on the bus, which she told him earlier was for an art project.

When asked what he intended to do with his retirement, Rob answered simply and sensibly: "Enjoy life."
