The eyes of the world will be on Newton Stewart this afternoon as the Queen’s Baton Relay passes through the town ahead of the Commonwealth Games beginning in Glasgow next month.
The baton will travel though 69 nations and cover 148,000 km before it arrives at the opening ceremony.
Today it’s the turn of Drumfries and Galloway as inspirational batonbearers from local communities carry the flame through the streets of our town.
The baton will travel through Langholm, Gretna, Eastriggs, Dumfries, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Newton Stewart and Stranraer today.
Join in along the route and celebrate one of the region’s most memorable days!
