The Galloway Pageant committee, saved in a last-minute effort by volunteers, has announced this year’s queen elect.
The 2014 Queen of Galloway will be 17-year-old Zoe King, chosen after visitors to the area, Wray and Janice Vamplew from Edinburgh along with Andrew and Janice Montgomery, were abducted from the Crown Hotel, Newton Stewart by committee chairman Colin Faulds and asked to make their choice at an event in the Bruce Hotel.
Zoe’s chief maid will be 13-year-old Leilani Bartlett and maids will be Iona McPhillips, 14; Amy-Jo Martin, 11 and Jennifer Cluckie, 11. Attendants will be Sophie Cluckie, 5; Eilidh Smithers, 6; Jasime Gordon, 10; Cerys McKie, 10 and Jodie Hedley, 10.
Page boys will be Thomas Jay Rivenell, 7; Nathan Telfer, 8 and Callum Gordon, 9.
The pageant committee would like to thank everyone who entered and the judges for doing a very difficult job.
The pageant will run from Thursday, July 24 to Saturday, July 26 at various events throughout Newton Stewart and Minnigaff.
