Minnigaff Primary have been learning all about the traditional Scots language by studying some Scots poems.

Lex Muir, from Newton Stewart Burns Club, visited the school to help headteacher Miss Bell judge the Scots poetry competition.

The winners were as follows.

Primary 1: 1. Nala Cuthberts, 2. Freya Murphy, 3. Logan McKeevor.

Primary 2: 1. Mateusz Podstawa, 2. Sky Hastie, 3. Jessica Kirkpatrick.

Primary 3: 1. Ellie Hoodless, 2. Sophie Barclay, 3. Ryan Hannah.

Primary 4: 1. Naomi Brock, 2. Chloe Crawford, 3. Logan Anderson.

Primary 5: 1. Jodie Stewart, 2. Craig McWilliam, 3. Cole McClymont.

Primary 6: 1. Thomas Gall, 2. Jak Templeton, 3. Jake Moore.

Primary 7: 1. Jodie Salfenmoser, 2. Jake McColm, 3. Steven Keenan.

And the morning children at the Minnigaff Community Nursery also received certificates after doing their Burns poems with Miss Bell.
