Police are warning of a scam which has recently appeared in the south-west area.
A householder was delivered a new mobile phone, which he didn’t order. On checking with the supplier of the phone, he was told about the scam.
Phones are being ordered and sent to addresses, but before the householder can take any action, they receive a call from the scammers indicating that the phone was delivered to the wrong address, and that a courier will call shortly to collect the phone.
The courier then arrives and collects the phone to complete the scam complete.
Police advice to anyone receiving a phone in such a way is to contact the supplier for instructions in the first instance as opposed to awaiting for a call.
