Olympic relay two arrives in town

You wait years for one historic relay and then two come along in a week!
Yesterday, Galloway Harriers runner Ross Bark was thrilled to take part in The Endurancelife Real Relay. This is an attempt to follow the entire route of the official Olympic Torch around the British Isles in one continuous non-stop journey, running every step of the way.
Super fit Ross picked the relay torch up off the ferry at Cairnryan yesterday morning and ran back into Stranraer, round the route the Olympic Torch too last Friday morning before heading back out to Carinryan and handing over to Liz Robertson from the Girvan Running Club. She then ran on with the torch up the A77 to Ballantrae.
Ross completed his run in the very respectable time of one hour 10 minutes.
The 27-year-old Stranraer athlete said: “It was quite windy going into Stranraer but it was a good training run. Actually, the torch was quite heavy to carry. I had to keep changing hands as my shoulders were getting sore! It was great to get such a good reception from everyone in the street and cars were tooting too as they went past.”
Starting out from Land’s End at midnight on Monday 28 May, ten days behind the official Olympic Torch, the Real Relay will involve hundreds of runners from across the British Isles running through the day and night on an 8000 mile mission to reach London in time for the Olympic Games opening ceremony.
