A brave 80-year-old grandmother from Wigtown is planning to fling herself off Europe’s longest zipwire to raise money for her favourite charity at the beginning of next month.
Nanette Craig from Harbour Road has decided to mark the 30th birthday of the Wigtownshire Branch of Save the Children by traversing the zipwire at the Laggan Outdoor Centre.
She told The Galloway Gazette:”On May 8th the Wigtownshire Branch of Save the Children reached its 30th birthday which seemed a good time to remind everyone of all the wonderful ongoing work that the charity does both here in this country and over 120 abroad.
“As one of the original members, I would personally like to thanks all our supporters and committee members past and present who have given so much over the years.
“Having recently received a gift of a go on the zipwire for my 80th birthday, what better way to celebrate than make some money for Save the Children. If anyone would like to support me I will be so grateful.”

Nanette hopes to do her zipwire challenge on Wednesday, July 9, but this will be dependent on the weather.
