MP demands secretary visit

RUSSELL Brown MP is demanding that home secretary Theresa May visit Stranraer in the wake of the Government's decision to axe funding for ports police.

Mr Brown made the call in a letter to the Home Secretary, which said the removal of UK Border Agency funding from the port and the manner in which the Government took the decision was "wholly unacceptable".

He added: "I am also calling for a debate in parliament at the first opportunity as the government simply cannot be allowed to walk away from their responsibilities."
