MP visits school

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>

Galloway MP Russell Brown dropped by Castle Douglas High School last week to talk to pupils about the importance of the manufacturing industry, and promote his manufacturing competition for school pupils.

Mr Brown spoke to the school’s Design and Manufacturing class.

The competition is open to all school pupils aged 13-16 across the Dumfries and Galloway constituency. The winning pupil will win a trip to London for them and a parent/guardian. All the pupil has to do is submit a drawing for an invention – whether it is a gadget, toy or gizmo. It doesn’t need to be a detailed plan, just their a representation of their ideas.

For more information visit www.russellbrownmp.com/schoolcompetition. The deadline is October 22 .

Mr Brown said: “It was great to visit Castle Douglas High and I enjoyed speaking to the pupils about the importance of the manufacturing industry to the UK. These pupils are starting to think about what jobs they want to do when they leave school, and we discussed the opportunities in the manufacturing sector.”
