Man found dead near Kirkcudbright
POLICE have named the man found dead near woodlands near Kirkcudbright as 70 year old John Baird from The Merse at Kirkcudbright.
Mr Baird was found in the early hours of Thursday, August 19 after a large scale search and rescue operation involving members of the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, a Royal Navy helicopter and police officers was mounted.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
