Man punched girlfriend

A man who assaulted his partner appeared at Stranraer Sheriff Court for sentencing this week.

Michael Thomson, 22, of 45 Agnew Crescent, was found guilty after a trial of struggling with Maria Morris and punching her on the face at 78 McDowall Drive on July 12.

Sentencing, Sheriff Kenneth Robb said that he hoped the accused would learn from
being put on the Caledonian Project, a Scottish government initiative that deals with domestic violence.

He also ordered Thomson to complete a two-year supervised community pay back order, including 120 hours of unpaid work.
