A man from Airdrie has appeared in private at Dumfries Sheriff Court following an incident that ended at Auchenlarie Holiday Park near Gatehouse of Fleet at the weekend.
David Andrew Jeans, 34, made no plea or declaration when he appeared from custody on Tuesday.
Jeans faced charges under Section 1 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009 as well as two further charges under the Road Traffic Act.
It is believed several teams of police officers and also members of the Coastguard attended the scene on Saturday.
Jeans was arrested on the shoreline at the popular holiday park and three officers were seen marching him back up from the water’s edge.
Jeans is now due to appear again at Dumfries Sheriff Court on April 30 and has been remanded in custody pending the hearing.
