A 31-year-old man is due to appear in court tomorrow (Thursday) in connection with an assault on a pensioner last weekend.
At around 11.15pm on Saturday, the 71-year -old victim opened his door on Stranraer’s Belmont Road to two people, one of whom overpowered him, knocking him to the ground.
Over £200 in cash was taken from the man before the two left. He was uninjured but left shaken and distressed.
Detective Inspector Bryan Lee of Police Scotland said “Our enquiries are ongoing into this robbery and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public in Stranraer for their valuable assistance which has assisted us in making one arrest at this time.
“Anyone who may still feel that have information which may be of assistance to us should get in touch through 101.”
Detective Constable Garry Mitchell said: “This is a cowardly attack on an elderly man in his own home and we are asking for the public’s help to catch those responsible.”
