AN 18-year old man, believed to be from Palnure near Newton Stewart, was airlifted to Glasgow for treatment after his vehicle collided with a train near Dunragit.

The incident happened yesterday (Sunday) at around 2pm on a crossing over the tracks from farmland as the two-carriage train passed by, and the man’s Mitsubishi Sogun was struck.

Three people, including the train driver were treated for minor injuries at Galloway Community Hospital in Stranraer and all were discharged after treatment.

The remaining passengers were conveyed to the Ryan Centre where they were seen by Scottish Ambulance Service personnel and police.

The Stanraer to Glasgow railway line has now been reopened.
