Lifeboat search for missing person draws a blank

STRANRAER Lifeboat was launched on Saturday following reports of a missing person in Loch Ryan.

From 10am, the Lifeboat searched from Stranraer harbour north to Wig Bay slip then headed east to the new Stena pier before heading south to Innermessan and back west searching Stranraer harbour once again. Nothing was found so crews were stood down by HM Coastgaurd at 1233.

At 4.24pm the Coastguard re-launched Stranraer Lifeboat to investigate a sighting at Wig Bay in relation to the incident and as before the west side of Loch Ryan was search along with Stranraer Harbour at low tide but nothing was found. The Lifeboat was also aided in the search by Search and Rescue Helicopter 177 from Ganett. Stranraer Lifeboat was then stood down once again by the Coastgaurd at 5.40pm and were thanked very much for their profesional and voluntary assistance once again.
