Stranraer Lifeboat crews were called as backup after a scallop dredger ran aground in Stranraer Harbour on Thursday.

The 25-metre dredger hit trouble just before 5pm and efforts to free it were abandoned. The boat was left until the next high tide, with safety winches attached to a boat alongside the harbour for support.
