Library’s usual service is shelved

Stranraer library will be offering a reduced service to customers with effect from March for 4 a period of four weeks.

The library’s heating system is beyond repair and must be replaced. This essential work is a major project requiring the opening up of ceilings and the removal of plant and piping. The works will improve the comfort of users and staff in the long term.

The service for customers over the four-week period will be set up in the community room on the ground floor. There will also be disruption to room bookings and training. Library staff will contact individuals and groups who are directly affected.

While there will be no public access to computing available over this period, wi-fi will be working as normal. It will not be possible to offer access to the local stock, microfiche, Tellytalk and fax facilities. Staff will do their best to assist customers by offering extra loans of books and extensions to loans over this period of disruption.

The councul has apologised for any inconvenience during these essential repairs.
